“Empowering women is key to building a future we want.”
– Amartya Sen
Vanita Vishram is a 115 years old non-profit institution whose activities are aligned to fulfill the mission of the founders, viz., to ensure the upliftment and self-reliance of women in our society. Founded in the year 1907 by Late Smt. Shivgauriben Gajjar and Late Smt. Bajigauriben Munshi, Vanita Vishram has always been striving hard to fulfill the Mission and Vision of its founders. Vanita Vishram has catered to the academic requirements of women from the Pre-School Section to the Post-graduate levels as an institution working for the upliftment of women through education and skill development. I am happy to state that the name of Vanita Vishram is synonymous with Women Empowerment which has become the buzzword in the present-day world, where women have carved a niche of their own in the academic and corporate sectors. Vanita Vishram, with its unflinching commitment towards women’s empowerment has many constituent units in its fold, the latest being the establishment of Vanita Vishram Women’s University (First Women’s University of Gujarat).
In order to provide opportunities for women to pursue Certificate & Diploma Courses as well as UG, PG & Ph.D. Degree Programmes, Vanita Vishram Women’s University is established under the provisions of the Gujarat Private Universities Act, 2009 and is recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. We, at VVWU strongly believe in imparting the required knowledge, skill, technical know-how, experiential learning as well as internships in order to make our students employment-ready. And in order to achieve the same, the University has entered into fruitful MoUs and has established linkages with the industry partners. The University meets the pedagogical necessities of women and grooms them for their lives. I strongly believe that the values ingrained by the institute in the students go a long way in making them capable for future prospects as well.
I am happy to say that in order to support the growth and development of the University, Vanita Vishram is constructing an independent new building (65,000 sq. ft. built-up area) which would accommodate many upcoming courses and state-of-the-art facilities at an estimated expense of nearly Rs. 15 Crore.
I take this opportunity to acknowledge the relentless efforts of all the stakeholders, especially of the Managing Council, Vanita Vishram, Mumbai and my colleagues in the Surat Administrative Committee, Vanita Vishram, Surat. Despite all constraints and limitations due to COVID 19 pandemic, Vanita Vishram has never compromised with the quality of education.
I am confident that Vanita Vishram in general and VVWU in particular will continue its efforts to achieve many more laurels and maintain highest standards of education in future.
With Best Wishes
